Day by Day Activities

To begin Jomsom Muktinath 4wd tour, leading with few hours of scenic drive to Nayapul and then to busy town of Beni, from here starting the real adventure with an overland journey on the old Trans Himalayan Salt Trade Route to Tibet, the drive follows the Kaligandaki river most of the way passing through nice traditional Gurung, Magar, Thakali villages of Tatopani, Ghasa and Kalopani with views of waterfalls closeby and of stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range of mountains forming the world deepest gorge of Kaligandaki river, after Kalopani and Lete village leaving the thick forested area for windswept, barren river valley of Kali Gandaki reaching at famous and charming Thakali villages of Tukuche, Kobang, Marpha and to Jomsom for overnight stop after a great driving adventure with awesome scenery along the drive. Jomsom the main and headquarter town of Mustang district, around this place is known as lower Mustang with a small airstrip with daily morning flight to Pokhara. Around this area famous for apples and its product like cider, brandy, Raksi (local brew) fresh and dry apples.

From Jomsom morning drive on a jeep leading on the flat Kali Gandaki valley with sweeping views of Nilgiri Himal and surrounding vase landscapes, the drive climbs after Ekalay Bhatti leaving the Kali-Gandaki river valley climbing high past Jharkot village with tremendous views of upper Mustang snow capped peaks with North West Face of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Tukuche peak. On reaching at Muktinath the highest spot of this trip, afternoon visit the holy temple complex of Muktinath dedicated to lord Vishnu after taking a holy wash from 108 fresh spring water spouts, here visit the Jal Devi where you can see the fire lighting itself ( probably from natural gas that’s found around this area) after a nice visit of Muktinath temple area where its sacred spot for Hindu and Buddhist also.

From Muktinath after holy visit drive back to Beni on the same route following the Kali Gandaki river downstream passing charming and beautiful villages of Marpha, Tukuche and Kalopani and back into forested area leaving the desert like landscape behind, after Kalopani the day gets warmer heading lower area to Beni town for overnight stop.

A short drive of few hours on the scenic road to Pokhara where you can have more time at Pokhara famous tourist and scenic spot in the shade of Annapurna Himalaya with stunning Mt. Machhapuchhre “Fish Tail” the towers high into the blue sky, here at Pokhara there are many activities like Paragliding, biking around, boating at Phewa lake or short hike to Buddhist Peace Stupa commands beautiful view of the mountains and Pokhara valley, or take a Zip-Line a cable exciting ride or just relax and enjoy the view.
